NCT ID NCT07232940

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study compares two ultrasound-guided nerve blocks for pain after video-assisted lung surgery. 90 adults will receive either an erector spinae plane block or a serratus posterior superior intercostal plane block. Researchers will measure opioid use and pain scores for 24 hours after surgery to see which block works better.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

bupivacaine with epinephrine

What this could lead to

If one block proves better, it could improve pain control and reduce opioid use after lung surgery.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase study with only 90 patients. Results may not apply to all surgeries or patients, and nerve blocks carry risks like infection or nerve damage.
