Diet and exercise may ease rare lung disease
NCT ID NCT03288025
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a 12-week program of exercise and diet counseling can improve insulin sensitivity and heart function in people with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). The 34 participants have stable PAH and are already on standard medications. The goal is to see if lifestyle changes can help control the disease.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Nutrition and exercise program
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a non-drug way to help manage PAH symptoms and improve heart function.
What could go wrong
This is a small early trial with only 34 people, so results may not apply to everyone. Diet and exercise may not be enough to significantly change the disease.
