Could a simple heart monitor cut deaths in shock patients?

NCT ID NCT05485376

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether using a special heart monitor (pulmonary artery catheter) early in the hospital can lower the risk of death for people in cardiogenic shock caused by heart failure. About 400 adults with severe heart failure and shock will be randomly assigned to get either early monitoring with the catheter or standard care. The main goal is to see if the catheter helps more people survive to leave the hospital.
