Could a daily nasal spray ease the burden of dementia caregiving?
NCT ID NCT06364228
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a daily nasal spray containing oxytocin, a natural hormone, can lower stress and improve quality of life in female family caregivers of people with dementia. About 32 women aged 50 and older who provide unpaid care will receive either a low or high dose of oxytocin or a placebo for 21 days. The goal is to see if this simple treatment can help reduce the chronic stress that often harms caregivers' health.
