New oxygen technique may reduce breathing problems during colonoscopy
NCT ID NCT07515755
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study will test three ways of giving oxygen to 280 adults during colonoscopy sedation: standard continuous flow, breath-synchronized pulses via the Sovant device, and CPAP. Researchers will track how often patients have breathing pauses or low oxygen levels. The goal is to find which method keeps patients safest during the procedure.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Breath-synchronized oxygen (Sovant device) and CPAP
What this could lead to
If successful, this could identify a safer way to give oxygen during colonoscopy sedation, reducing breathing complications.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage observational study, not testing a new treatment. Results may not apply to other procedures or patient groups.
