Gentle touch or sham? new study tests osteopathy for IBS in fibromyalgia patients

NCT ID NCT07176078

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study looks at whether adding osteopathic care (a type of hands-on therapy) to a flexible low-FODMAP diet helps reduce IBS symptoms more than a sham (fake) treatment in people with both fibromyalgia and IBS. About 96 adults will receive four sessions of real or sham osteopathic care. Researchers will track symptom changes, quality of life, and safety over six months.
