First seen Nov 03, 2025 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding calcium to the standard oral rehydration solution (ORS) can reduce the severity of acute watery diarrhea in adults. 396 adults with diarrhea (some with cholera) took part. The goal was to see if the calcium-enriched drink decreases stool output and shortens illness duration compared to standard ORS.
