First seen Mar 17, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study looked at whether eating a special type of sweet orange ('Rosy Red Valencia') that is rich in certain nutrients (carotenoids) can reduce inflammation and oxidative stress in healthy adults. Twenty healthy men and women ate either the special orange or a regular orange every day for 4 weeks. Researchers measured levels of these nutrients in the blood and checked for markers of inflammation and cell damage. The goal was to see if the special orange offers extra health benefits compared to a regular orange.
