Protein power: new study tests if extra nutrition boosts recovery in older trauma patients
NCT ID NCT06521086
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study looks at whether giving extra protein drinks to older adults (45+) who have been seriously injured helps them regain muscle and function faster. Sixty participants will be split into two groups: one gets extra protein drinks in the hospital and for four weeks after discharge, while the other gets standard care. Researchers will use simple, non-invasive tests to measure muscle mass, energy use, and walking ability.
