Heart failure patients may get smarter pacemaker tuning without surgery
NCT ID NCT04662970
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a new way to adjust pacemakers in people with heart failure. Researchers will use a non-invasive imaging technique (like an advanced ECG) to measure how quickly the heart's chambers activate under 16 different pacemaker settings. The goal is to find the setting that makes the heart beat most efficiently. The study involves 25 adults who already have a compatible pacemaker.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
device programming (pacemaker settings)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a more personalized way to program pacemakers, potentially improving heart function and quality of life for heart failure patients.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study with only 25 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. It focuses on finding the best settings, not on long-term outcomes or survival.
