Can repeat laser eye treatment keep glaucoma in check?
NCT ID NCT05159960
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study looks at the best way to repeat a laser treatment called SLT for people with open-angle glaucoma or high eye pressure. Researchers will compare different treatment methods in 400 participants who were already in an earlier SLT trial. The goal is to see how well repeat SLT lowers eye pressure and how long the effect lasts.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) with pilocarpine and tetracaine eye drops
What this could lead to
If successful, this could establish the best way to repeat SLT to control eye pressure and delay the need for more invasive treatments.
What could go wrong
This is an observational extension of an earlier trial, not a new treatment test. Results may not apply to all glaucoma patients, and repeat SLT may not work as well as the first time.
