Can online videos ease bowel troubles after rectal cancer?
NCT ID NCT06628674
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests whether online interactive videos that guide core muscle exercises can improve bowel symptoms, psychological distress, and quality of life in people who have had rectal cancer surgery. About 110 adults with stage I-III rectal cancer will be assigned to either a group that uses the online videos or a group that does pelvic exercises without them. The goal is to see if the interactive videos make a meaningful difference in managing low anterior resection syndrome (LARS).
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- online interactive videos with core muscle exercise
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a simple, home-based way to improve bowel control and emotional well-being after rectal cancer surgery.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage study (110 people) testing a behavioral intervention, so results may not apply widely. The exercises require consistent effort, and benefits may be modest.
