Online program aims to break the cycle of IBS in families

NCT ID NCT05730491

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests an online program called REACH for parents who have irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The goal is to see if the program can help parents encourage healthy habits in their young children and reduce the chance of the kids developing similar stomach problems. About 460 parents will be randomly assigned to use either the REACH website or a standard health website. Researchers will track changes in how parents respond to their child's symptoms and their own anxiety levels.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could give parents with IBS a simple, online tool to help their children build healthy habits and reduce the risk of developing similar stomach issues.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage trial testing a new online program. The results may not be strong enough to prove it works, and the program may not be helpful for all families.
