First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested whether an online service that provides personalized low-FODMAP menus and nutritional support can improve quality of life and symptoms in people with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Forty participants followed the diet for six months using a web platform. Researchers measured changes in quality of life, symptom severity, and anxiety at the start, after the restriction phase, and after reintroduction.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
online low-FODMAP diet
What this could lead to
If successful, this online approach could offer a convenient way for people with IBS to manage their symptoms and improve quality of life through diet.
What could go wrong
This was a small pilot study with only 40 participants and no comparison group, so results may not apply to everyone. The diet is restrictive and may be hard to follow long-term.
