Zapping resistant tumors: could radiation keep breast cancer therapy working longer?
NCT ID NCT06925984
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This phase 2 trial tests whether giving precise radiation (SBRT) to a few growing cancer spots can help women with ER+/HER2- metastatic breast cancer stay on their current hormone therapy or CDK4/6 inhibitor longer. The study enrolls 48 women whose cancer has started to progress in 1 to 3 places after at least 6 months on treatment. They will continue their systemic therapy while receiving SBRT to those resistant spots, with the goal of delaying the need to switch to a new treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT)
What this could lead to
If successful, this approach could help women with metastatic breast cancer stay on their current well-tolerated treatment longer before needing to switch to a new one.
What could go wrong
This is a small early-phase study with only 48 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The treatment only targets a few resistant spots, and the cancer may still progress elsewhere.
