Blood test could match resistant breast cancer to best drug
NCT ID NCT05601440
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This phase 2 trial is testing whether a liquid biopsy (a simple blood test) can help choose the right treatment for people with ER+/HER2- metastatic breast cancer that has stopped responding to standard therapies. About 484 participants will be assigned to one of several drug arms or an observation group based on their tumor's DNA markers. The goal is to see if biomarker-guided treatment improves response rates and survival.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Lunresertib, Gemcitabine, Niraparib, Fulvestrant, Camonsertib, CFI-402257, CFI-400945, Sacituzumab govitecan
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that using a simple blood test to pick treatments improves outcomes for people with hard-to-treat breast cancer.
What could go wrong
This is a mid-stage trial with many different drugs, so results may take years and some arms may not work. Side effects from the various drugs are possible.
