New 3D heart mapping may unlock secrets of stubborn irregular heartbeat
NCT ID NCT04229160
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study looks at 50 adults with persistent atrial fibrillation (a long-lasting irregular heartbeat) to see how the heart's electrical patterns change after a standard treatment called pulmonary vein isolation. Researchers use a noninvasive 3D mapping system to track these changes and find clues that might predict whether the treatment will work. The goal is to learn more about what causes AF to return, not to test a new cure.
