New ultrasound method may spare cirrhosis patients from painful liver pressure test

NCT ID NCT07365709

First seen Jan 31, 2026 · Last updated Jun 11, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a combination of ultrasound and spleen stiffness measurements can accurately detect dangerous high blood pressure in the liver (portal hypertension) without needing an invasive procedure. Researchers will enroll 107 adults with liver cirrhosis and compare the non-invasive results to the standard invasive test. If successful, this could make monitoring safer and more comfortable for patients.
