Laughing gas tested to ease Post-Surgery pain for spine patients

NCT ID NCT00210158

Summary

This study tested whether giving nitrous oxide (laughing gas) during surgery could help reduce pain and the need for strong painkillers afterward. It focused on patients who were already taking long-term opioid medication and were having a vertebroplasty procedure to treat spine fractures. The goal was to see if the gas could make recovery more comfortable by blocking certain pain pathways.
