NCT ID NCT07315555
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether adding black seed oil (Nigella sativa) to standard asthma medication can improve asthma control and lung function in children aged 6–18 with moderate persistent asthma. Ninety children will receive either a low or high dose of black seed oil capsules or a placebo, alongside their usual inhaled steroids. The goal is to see if this natural supplement can reduce inflammation and help them breathe better.

Nigella sativa (black seed) oil
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a natural supplement that helps children with asthma breathe better and have fewer symptoms when added to their usual medication.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 90 children. The supplement may not provide significant benefit, and results may not apply to all asthma patients.
