Summary

This study works with First Nations communities in Manitoba to design and test ways to prevent type 2 diabetes in children. Pregnant women with or without diabetes are enrolled, and their children are followed from birth. The approach includes breastfeeding support, nutrition and activity guidance, and early screening for blood sugar problems using HbA1c tests and continuous glucose monitors. The goal is to stop the cycle of diabetes passing from one generation to the next.
