Could a Finger-Worn gadget diagnose sleep apnea?
NCT ID NCT07485582
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study will test several new wearable devices and a mobile app to see how well they diagnose obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) compared to the standard overnight sleep test. About 90 adults will wear devices like a finger sensor, wristband, ring, patches, and an eye mask while also undergoing the gold-standard test. The goal is to find accurate, easy-to-use home diagnostic tools.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, these devices could offer more convenient and accessible ways to diagnose sleep apnea at home.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage device comparison study, not a treatment trial. The new devices may not be as accurate as the gold standard test.
