New scan could spot childhood cancer more clearly

NCT ID NCT06858501

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 30, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether a new type of PET scan (18F-MFBG) can detect neuroblastoma tumors as accurately as the current standard scan (123I-MIBG). About 84 children and adults with newly diagnosed, high-risk neuroblastoma will receive both scans to compare results. If the new scan works as well or better, it could become a new tool for diagnosing and monitoring this cancer.
