New scanner aims to give doctors a clearer view during surgery
NCT ID NCT07092553
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study will test a new type of CT scanner that may produce clearer images during image-guided procedures like biopsies or injections. Twenty adults scheduled for such procedures will receive one extra scan with the new device. Researchers will compare the image quality to standard scans to see if the new technology helps doctors spot important details better.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
C-arm photon counting detector cone beam CT (PCD-CBCT) device
What this could lead to
If successful, this new imaging technology could help doctors perform image-guided procedures more accurately and safely by providing clearer, more detailed images.
What could go wrong
This is a very early, small study with only 20 participants, focused on image quality rather than patient outcomes. The new scanner may not show meaningful improvement over current methods.
