Gentler brain zap shows promise for suicidal thoughts without memory loss

NCT ID NCT06529029

Summary

This study tests whether a new, lower-power version of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) works better for reducing suicidal thoughts than standard ECT. Researchers will compare both treatments in 30 adults with severe depression, bipolar disorder, or related conditions who have suicidal thoughts. The main goal is to see if the new approach reduces suicidal thinking as effectively while causing fewer memory problems.
