Can simple nerve stretches ease diabetic burning pain?
NCT ID NCT07141992
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tests two types of nerve stretches—active (patient-controlled) and passive (therapist-applied)—to see which better reduces burning pain, improves muscle strength, and increases joint movement in people with diabetic neuropathy. Sixty adults aged 40 to 65 with diabetes will receive 12 sessions over 4 weeks. The goal is to find a better rehabilitation strategy for managing neuropathic symptoms.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
neural mobilization techniques (active flossing and passive tensioning)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward a better physical therapy approach to reduce burning pain and improve movement in people with diabetic neuropathy.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 60 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. It tests short-term symptom relief, not a cure, and benefits may be modest.
