First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study tested whether a numbing injection (ropivacaine) given near the chest muscles before breast cancer surgery could reduce pain right after the operation. 182 women having a lumpectomy with lymph node removal took part. The goal was to see if fewer patients needed strong pain relievers in the first three hours after surgery compared to those who got a placebo.
