Promising combo for tough breast cancers hits early hurdle

NCT ID NCT03101748

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This early-phase trial tested a combination of targeted drugs (neratinib, pertuzumab, trastuzumab) and chemotherapy (paclitaxel, doxorubicin, cyclophosphamide) in 34 people with advanced or inflammatory breast cancer. The goal was to find the best dose and see if the combo could shrink tumors before surgery. However, the study was terminated early, so we have limited data on how well it works.

Active substance

neratinib, pertuzumab, trastuzumab, paclitaxel, doxorubicin, cyclophosphamide

What this could lead to

If successful, this combination could offer a new treatment option for aggressive breast cancers that are hard to treat.
