Can chicken collagen beat glucosamine for knee pain?
NCT ID NCT06917287
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a dietary supplement called Native CT-II® (a type of collagen from chicken sternum) can reduce pain and improve knee function in people with knee osteoarthritis. About 114 adults aged 40-65 with moderate-to-severe knee pain will take either the supplement, a standard glucosamine-chondroitin combo, or a placebo for 90 days. The goal is to see if this natural option offers better symptom relief with fewer side effects.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Native CT-II® (undenatured type II collagen from chicken sternum)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a natural supplement option to reduce pain and improve mobility in knee osteoarthritis with fewer side effects than current treatments.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial (114 participants) testing a dietary supplement, not a drug. Results may not be dramatic or apply to everyone, and the supplement may work no better than placebo.
