First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study explores whether trained volunteers with the overdose-reversal drug naloxone can reach people having an opioid overdose faster than emergency services. About 1,000 volunteers will be alerted via a smartphone app when a suspected overdose is reported. The goal is to see if this approach is feasible, safe, and acceptable to both volunteers and overdose victims.
