Can a simple joint glide ease knee arthritis pain?

NCT ID NCT07166068

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a manual therapy called Mobilization with Movement (MWM) can reduce pain and inflammation in people with knee osteoarthritis. Forty adults with moderate to severe knee OA will receive either MWM or a sham treatment twice a week for four weeks, plus standard exercise. Researchers will measure inflammation from blood samples and track pain and function to see if MWM offers real relief.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Manual therapy (Mobilization with Movement)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a non-drug, hands-on treatment option for easing knee osteoarthritis pain and inflammation.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 40 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The sham group also gets exercise, making it hard to isolate MWM's effect.
