NCT ID NCT07483034

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study is testing whether listening to calming classical music twice a day can help women with breast cancer feel less anxious and depressed during surgery and chemotherapy. Researchers will also check if music affects certain substances in the blood linked to stress and nerve health. Ninety women will be randomly assigned to either a music-listening group or a control group.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
receptive music therapy (listening to classical instrumental music)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, drug-free way to ease anxiety and depression and improve quality of life for women with breast cancer during surgery and chemotherapy.
What could go wrong
This is an early study with only 90 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. The music selection is chosen by the researcher, not the patient, which may limit its effectiveness.
