NCT ID NCT05846841
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether giving smokers a personalized quit plan based on their genes, health history, and biomarkers helps more people stop smoking than standard advice. About 850 smokers and their doctors from primary care clinics will take part. The goal is to see if tailored recommendations increase medication use and quit rates.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
behavioral intervention (personalized tobacco treatment recommendations based on clinical, genetic, and biomarker information)
What this could lead to
If successful, this approach could make smoking cessation treatments more effective by tailoring them to each person's unique profile.
What could go wrong
This is a relatively early-stage behavioral study, and the personalized approach may not significantly improve quit rates over standard care. Results depend on clinician and patient adherence.
