NCT ID NCT07874633
First seen Oct 15, 2026 · Last updated Oct 16, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
Researchers are testing whether a monthly injection of berobenatide helps Chinese adults with overweight or obesity lose weight safely. About 432 participants will receive either berobenatide or a placebo shot, along with lifestyle counseling. The trial measures changes in body weight and monitors side effects over roughly 59 weeks.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- berobenatide, an experimental weight-loss drug given as a monthly shot under the skin
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could give Chinese adults with overweight or obesity a once-monthly injection option to help manage weight, alongside diet and lifestyle changes.
- What could go wrong
- The drug is still experimental and may not produce meaningful weight loss or may cause side effects. Results from this trial may not apply to other populations, and participants must keep using the treatment to maintain any benefit.
