New imaging method could unlock secrets of rare heart disease

NCT ID NCT02641145

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study is for people with light chain amyloidosis, a rare disease where abnormal proteins build up in the heart and other organs. Researchers will use special PET and MRI scans to take detailed pictures of these protein deposits in the heart. The goal is to better understand how the deposits cause heart damage, which could lead to new treatments. About 171 adults will participate over several years.
