First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study looked at whether tiny cell parts called mitochondria contribute to higher blood pressure and worse blood vessel health in Black adults. Researchers gave 31 middle-aged and older adults a supplement called MitoQ or a placebo for 8 weeks. The goal was to understand the role of mitochondria in racial health differences, not to treat or cure any disease.
