Bladder drug may smooth the way for kidney stone surgery

NCT ID NCT07566416

First seen May 05, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looked at whether taking mirabegron, a drug normally used for overactive bladder, helps doctors insert a tube (ureteral access sheath) more easily during kidney stone surgery. The idea is that mirabegron relaxes the ureter, making it easier to reach and remove stones. The study involved 125 adults scheduled for kidney stone surgery, comparing those who took mirabegron beforehand to those who did not.
