Blood clues: could MicroRNAs reveal hidden links between a parasite and mental illness?

NCT ID NCT07346833

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at 55 women who have a chronic (long-term) infection with the Toxoplasma parasite and also have a mental health condition like schizophrenia, depression, or bipolar disorder. Researchers want to see if tiny molecules called microRNAs in the blood can help tell these conditions apart and show how the infection affects mental health. No treatment is given—this is an observational study to gather knowledge.
