Summary

This completed study analyzed microRNAs in carotid artery plaques from 30 patients who had surgery to remove them. Researchers compared plaques from people who had already had a stroke (symptomatic) with those who had not (asymptomatic) to see if certain microRNAs are linked to stroke risk. The goal was to better understand why some plaques cause strokes and others do not.
