NCT ID NCT07141238
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether microplastics are found more often in children with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) compared to healthy children. Researchers will collect samples of tissue, blood, urine, and stool from 40 children during routine endoscopy. No treatment is given—the goal is simply to measure and compare microplastic levels.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If it works, this could help understand whether microplastics play a role in inflammatory bowel disease in children.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early observational study that only measures microplastics, not tests a treatment. It may not find clear differences or prove cause and effect.
