First seen Jan 03, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study examines whether taking metformin before being admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) with severe lactic acidosis affects a patient's chances of survival. Researchers will review records of 100 adults with type 2 diabetes who were admitted to a French hospital ICU between 2014 and 2023. The goal is to clarify the controversial link between metformin and outcomes in this critical situation.
