First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This early-phase study looks at whether the diabetes drug metformin can help older adults regain thigh muscle and function after a hip fracture. Sixty people aged 60 and older who had surgery for a hip fracture will take either metformin or a placebo daily for 4 months. The main goal is to see if this approach is practical and safe, and to measure changes in thigh size and recovery.
