Could a natural peptide help control obesity and diabetes?
NCT ID NCT02646475
First seen May 23, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026
Summary
This early-phase study at Vanderbilt University is testing whether a natural substance called angiotensin-(1-7) can improve how the body uses insulin in people with obesity, insulin resistance, and high blood pressure. About 26 adults aged 18-60 will receive the peptide or a placebo to measure changes in insulin sensitivity, blood pressure, and heart function. The goal is to see if this approach could lead to new treatments for metabolic diseases.
