First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tests whether megestrol acetate, a drug that boosts appetite, can prevent weight loss in people with locally advanced colorectal cancer who are receiving chemotherapy before surgery. About 60 adults will be randomly assigned to get either megestrol acetate or a placebo alongside their standard chemo. The goal is to see if the drug helps patients maintain weight, feel better, and tolerate treatment more easily.
