Summary
This study tests whether practicing MediYoga—a gentle form of yoga—through a smartphone app can improve sleep quality, lower blood pressure, and boost quality of life in people aged 65 and older who have hypertension. Participants will be randomly assigned to do 20 or 40 minutes of yoga twice a week for 10 weeks, or to receive usual care. Researchers will compare the groups to see if the yoga practice makes a difference.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- App-based MediYoga exercises (behavioral intervention)
- What this could lead to
- If effective, this could offer a simple, home-based practice to help older adults with hypertension sleep better, lower blood pressure, and feel better overall.
- What could go wrong
- The trial is relatively small and the yoga is self-guided via an app, so results may vary. It's unclear if any benefits will be lasting or apply to all older adults.
