First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at why people with cirrhosis (scarring of the liver) often lose muscle and fat, which can make them sicker. Researchers will compare tissue samples from 16 liver transplant patients and 16 healthy people having other surgeries. They aim to measure a protein called myostatin that may cause this wasting, helping to understand the problem better.
