NCT ID NCT07620132
First seen Jun 02, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests if adjusting a ventilator during abdominal surgery based on a measure called 'mechanical power' can reduce the risk of postoperative respiratory failure. About 490 adults having abdominal surgery lasting at least 2 hours will be randomly assigned to either standard ventilator settings or settings aimed at lowering mechanical power. The goal is to see if this approach reduces breathing complications and deaths within 30 days after surgery.
