First seen May 06, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested two ways of using a breathing machine during heart bypass surgery: giving small breaths or no breaths at all. The goal was to see which method better prevents serious lung issues like respiratory failure, pneumonia, and death. Over 1,500 adults having planned heart surgery took part, and researchers tracked their recovery until they left the hospital.
