First seen Apr 23, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a mother's scent or a soft knitted octopus toy can help reduce pain in newborn babies who had asphyxia (lack of oxygen at birth) and are receiving cooling treatment. 45 full-term infants in the NICU were involved. Researchers measured pain levels using a special scale to see if these comforting items made a difference.
