Massage or talk therapy: which sparks more 'Feel-Good' hormones for back pain?

NCT ID NCT06987786

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study looks at how two different treatments—massage and talk therapy—affect stress and bonding hormones in people with long-term neck or back pain. Researchers will measure oxytocin and cortisol levels from saliva samples before and after each session. The goal is to see if these hormones relate to how well patients connect with their therapist and to pain, mood, and disability outcomes. About 25 adults with chronic spine pain will take part.
